Squash Team at Witham Hall
Friday, 14th November 2008

On Friday 14th November we travelled over to Witham for a squash fixture. We never really know what to expect from these fixtures, but the outcome was very satisfying. Edward Buxton had some good practice against the Witham Senior Captain and all four Junior boys played well to come out winners in all their matches. There were some very tense moments in two Sams' matches. The results were:

Edward Buxton, won 3-0
Alexander Webb, won 3-0
Charlie Chamberlayne, won 2-1
Sam Boscawen, won 2-0
Sam Holland-Bosworth, won 2-1

Squash Team v Winchester House
Thursday, 21st February, 2008

Having moved the seeds around a bit I was confident that we would have greater success. Sadly it wasn't meant to be with only Milo Cook and Nick Bell winning in the Junior section and Jack Gray as 6th seed winning for the Seniors.

Archie Bowlby, Jack Tripp, Edward Spooner and Edward Fenner got themselves in good positions to win their matches, but shot selection and poor serving when it mattered let them down. Also, the boys must learn to compose themselves and be a bit more subtle.

Squash Team v Winchester House
Thursday, 22nd November, 2007

On Thursday 22nd November, twelve boys and I travelled through rush hour traffic to Winchester House.  This fixture has been long standing, but the Maidwell teams have changed much since last year.  Our Juniors tried hard but lost 1-5: 4th seed Nick Bell salvaging the only win. The Senior competition was much closer with wins for Jack Gray and Archie Bowlby.  Joss Stoddart was only two points away from beating their No.1, but got stuck at the back of the court after some powerful serves. We eventually lost 2-4.

It was a very enjoyable night nonetheless and we were hosted well by Mr Wilson and the Winchester House team.
