Form II Peak District Weekend - April 2008

The beginning of term saw Form II set off in the minibuses for 3 days in the Peak District. The first two days were devoted to Geography Fieldwork and a study of the river features of the Upper Goyt Valley. Conditions were very cold but profitable practical work was completed and the comforts of the Hartington Hall Youth Hostel kept spirits high. Following this the focus switched to outward bound and a night spent camping beside the River Manifold just across the Derbyshire boarder in Staffordshire. On the Sunday, activities were based at Carsington Reservoir with icy cold raft building testing the bravery of the boys and mountain biking as the alternative to sailing which was cancelled because of excessive wind. So cold was everyone by the end that hot chocolate in the visitor centre was deemed a more sensible alternative to orienteering in the rain at Cromford Moor.
