Stoneygate 344 |
|
The under 9 B’s cricket season got underway this year on Tuesday the 11th of May at Stoneygate school. The boys won the toss and chose to bat first scoring a solid 70 runs in just under an hour. | Maidwell 258 - lost by 77 runs |
Wellingborough 335 |
|
The boys tried their level best but came up short against a better team. Maidwell batted first and were ticking along quite nicely but then lost several wickets, and therefore a lot of penalty runs, in the middle of the innings. Humphrey Wakeham-Dawson hit a couple of good shots for four.
Wellingborough batted well in reply, but their run-rate was boosted by too many extras. Guthrie Shields, captain for the day, fielded particularly well and took a great catch while Ralph Phillips and Hugo Ross-Wilson both showed some promise with the ball.

Bilton Grange 126 |
|
The Maidwell boys hosted Bilton Grange on the 11th of June 2011. Maidwell batted first and after some good and not so good batting pairs the boys finished on a solid 126 runs. Bilton Grange started their batting slowly but after 19 overs they were close to Maidwell's score. The first 5 balls of the final over Bilton hadn’t scored a run, but the last ball of the game was called as a ‘no ball’ and Bilton had equalled Maidwell’s score. So in the end the boys finished on the first draw of the season.

| Maidwell 305 |
Akeley Wood 301 |
|
Maidwell fielded first and fine but the bowling was not fantastic. Akeley Wood finished with a reachable 301. The Maidwell boys headed out expecting to win but after a few batters the target seemed unreachable. In the last over with 3 balls to go Maidwell reached the target and were ecstatic that they had won.
