Our annual Form I World Challenge Weekend took place at the Leadership and Outdoor Pursuits Centre at Buxton in the Peak District. We were blessed with wonderful weather and our two nights of camping were therefore an entirely pleasurable experience as was the cooked breakfast that the boys made on the Saturday morning and the fish and chips in Buxton the evening before! Saturday involved high ropes challenges in the morning followed by climbing and scrambling at Windgather Rocks in the afternoon. Before cooking a delicious pasta and tuna supper the boys experienced caving in the underground tunnels at the centre. Highlights of the weekend were the after dark games of Sniper and Escape & Evasion. On the Sunday they had the 6 hour walk around the Goyt Valley and up onto Shining Tor including map reading skills, dealing with casualties (one of the boys ended up being a real one needing 4 stitches) and lost and found routines. It was an excellent weekend which was very well led and organised by the two Ians, our WCE leaders.
