Match Reports

Maidwell 35   Stamford 14

This was an impressive start to the season. Stamford provided lively opposition but were no match for Maidwell’s power and speed. George Henderson scored 2 tries and kicked 5 conversions, Harry Chubb scored 2 tries with Alexander Saunders adding the fifth.

Maidwell 21  Winchester House 5

This was a very open match with Maidwell overpowering a talented Winchester side. Harry Chubb added another 2 tries, whilst George Henderson touched down and added 3 conversions.

Maidwell 35  Stoneygate 0

This was a commanding performance with Maidwell running in 5 tries. Harry Chubb raced in for 4 of them with Michael Keith adding the fifth. George Henderson converted all 5 tries.

Maidwell 7  Swanbourne 7

This was a hard fought match with honours even at the final whistle. Following his father’s TV appearance, George Plant stormed over for Maidwell’s try. George Henderson added the conversion.

Maidwell 7  Spratton 12

This was an exciting game of rugby played by 2 sides willing to run the ball. Unfortunately for Maidwell the match was decided in the first minute when missed tackles gave away a soft try. The rest of the match was highly competitive and Harry Chubb raced in for an excellent try. George Henderson added the conversion.

Maidwell 42  Great Houghton 0

This was an impressive performance with the team running in 6 tries. Harry Chubb maintained his record of scoring in every match with 2 tries, as did George Henderson who maintained his 100% conversion success rate. Henry Keith and William Duncan both scored excellent tries in a satisfying victory.

Maidwell 7  Bilton Grange 14

This was another excellent game of rugby, with Bilton shading it by the one try. George Henderson scored all 7 points.

Maidwell 21  Witham 21

At the end of the day this was probably the correct result as both sides conceded 3 soft tries in the first half. Alexander Saunders and Harry Chubb with 2 were the try scorers, with George Henderson adding the conversions. The second half was a tight affair with neither side managing to add to the score.

Maidwell 49  Akeley Wood 0

This was a comprehensive result with the whole team contributing to 7 impressive converted tries. George Henderson maintained his 100% kicking record, also adding a try. Freddie Peppiatt opened his try account for the season, whilst Harry Chubb with 2, William Duncan with 2 and Alexander Saunders with 1, added to their season totals.

Maidwell 54  Bedford 14

This was a bit of a miss match against a weakened Bedford side. Harry Chubb scored 6 tries, taking his total to 22 for the season. Felix Holland-Bosworth scored his first try for the As and William Duncan added the eighth. George Henderson lost his 100% kicking success by only adding 6 out of 7 conversions. As he was replaced for the last 5 minutes (rotating the backs, he didn’t get hauled off because he missed his first kick of the whole term!), Michael Keith converted the final try.

Maidwell 28  Wellingborough 14

This final match of the season was a hard fought win over a very good Wellingborough side. Harry Chubb took his season’s total to 24 tries with another 2. George Henderson and Jacob Jefferis also touched down. George was back on form and added 4 more conversions to bring his season’s total to 43 conversions and 6 tries.
