The School's Ethos
I want each boy's experience of Maidwell to be thoroughly happy, enjoyable and fulfilling. Our aim is to encourage all boys to discover their talents and to develop them to the full. We are educating the whole person, and because the Maidwell experience is a broad one and goes well beyond just the academic curriculum we are well placed to do this. The school welcomes a wide range of academic talent and not just the very bright. |
A Christian School
Maidwell is a Christian school which aims to present the Christian faith to the boys and to use the teachings of Jesus Christ as the basis for their spiritual development. Prayers every morning and church on Sundays are central occasions in the life of the school; there is plenty of pupil involvement with the readings, the prayers and with interaction with visiting speakers or the staff taking prayers on that day.

Manners and Discipline
A clear framework of rules and conventions provides the boys with strong guidance as they grow up. Within this framework we want them to be relaxed and at ease with other boys, with the teaching staff and with other adults that they come across. My experience is that such a clear framework enables a happy, free and stable atmosphere to prevail. |
Mealtimes
Mealtimes are important occasions when the whole school sits together. Lunch is a formal meal with a fixed seating plan for each table that changes twice a term. Boys sit on mixed tables with teachers sitting at either end and in charge of serving the food, ensuring good manners and encouraging stimulating conversation. Breakfast and supper are less formal and boys will sit with their own year groups. |
