This year the Edale training walk took place in January which was earlier than usual. The overnight conditions were wet, cold and windy and putting tents up in pouring rain was gruelling. Puddles inside the tent had to be tipped out. There was ice on our tents in the morning but the sky was clear and we had an invigating day's walking. It was very cold indeed on the tops with an icy wind and frozen ground although the peat was still soft enough for some to fall in! All 13 boys coped impressively with heavy back packs and as the photos show we had some fun along the way but never stopping for too long because of the cold. It was Alfie's birthday and it was fun to meet up with his parents and sister who had climbed up to join us. The 12 mile walk was completed in just over 7 hours which was on a par with last year's very fast time.
