Match Reports

V Swanbourne House

Maidwell 81-2
Won by 8 wickets

Swanbourne 80 all out

The Colts B thoroughly enjoyed this victory and in the end were convincing winners by a margin of 8 wickets. The victory was made possible by a very good bowling display especially from Sam Holland-Bosworth who finished up with 4 wickets and, for the statisticians, will be on a hat trick at the beginning of the next match as he took two wickets from his last two balls of the Swanbourne innings.

V Beachborough

Maidwell 123-4
Won by 50 runs

Swanbourne 73-7

This was a 20 over match and Maidwell batted first and never looked in any danger from the Beachborough bowling attack. We got away to a relatively slow start only scoring 40 runs from the first 10 overs. The second 10 overs were much more productive especially when Charlie Bygott entered the proceedings scoring a very quick 45 runs, taking our total to 123-4. Beachborough started their innings extremely well taking advantage of some poor fielding from Maidwell. But this did not last and Hugh Buxton and George Whitcombe bowled extremely well and steamed the flow of runs. In the end Maidwell won this match with a very comfortable margin of 50 runs. Man of the match was Charlie Bygott who hit 10 fours in his individual total of 45.

V Bilton Grange

Maidwell 114 all out

Bilton Grange 60 all out

Won by 54 runs

This was another comprehensive victory and one that should have been even more convincing. In this match we lost the toss and were put into bat. To be honest our batting was extremely unconvincing on what was a very tiny pitch. Our main contributions came from William Holborow and Guy Seddon who batted beautifully for their runs. When Bilton came into bat they never looked likely to challenge our total and it was only a matter of how long it would take us to bowl them out. Our main wicket taker was Oliver Garton who took four wickets and bowled impressively after a shaky start. Three matches and three wins, a great start for the Colts B.

V Stoneygate

Maidwell 82 for 2

Stoneygate 81 for 5

Won by 8 wickets

Yet another convincing win completed an unbeaten term for Maidwell unless another fixture is arranged for later in the term. Maidwell won the toss and elected to field. Stoneygate never looked convincing with the bat and scrapped along too 81 for 5 off 20 over’s. Maidwell went about there business with extraordinary ease and amassed runs very quickly. The first 50 coming off the first 7 overs. The main reason for this was some superb shots from Harry McGrath who finished on 37 before he was unluckily run out. The first wicket amassed 62 runs and after this there was no doubt that we would comfortably reach the target set. An exceptional cricket term boys, extremely well played.
